Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Pecorino
Shared by Brenda DaSie
Medjool dates stuffed with crumbled pecorino romano cheese, wrapped in bacon, and baked until crisp. A classic sweet and savory appetizer perfect for entertaining.
Ingredients
- 24 whole pitted Medjool dates (about 1 lb.)
- 4 oz pecorino romano cheese (crumbled into 1/2-inch pieces)
- 1 lb bacon (each slice halved crosswise)
Directions
- 1
Preheat an oven to 425°F. Set a wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet. Line a large plate with a double layer of paper towels.
- 2
Stuff each date with a piece of pecorino. Lay each date on top of a bacon slice, wrap to enclose and secure with a toothpick. Place on the rack-lined baking sheet.
- 3
Transfer to the oven and bake until the bacon is crisp, about 20 minutes, turning the dates over halfway through the baking time.
- 4
Transfer the dates to the paper towels to drain, then arrange on a platter. Serve immediately.
