Why our snack bites help with digestion

Neither which are much fun, especially with your busy, active lifestyle. Digestion is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle. When we were first researching our 6 signature flavors, we asked ourselves what ingredients will be easy on sensitive stomachs? Can improve digestion? And cause the least amount of inflammation?

Answering these questions was particularly challenging when relating them to individuals with food allergies or food sensitivities. As we've seen with our own family members, if there is any cross-contamination with an allergen, it can set the entire digestive system off. Bringing that person back to one of the scenarios that we mentioned above. Taking the person away from the things that are important in their life like family time, playing at the beach, or going for the big hike to see the magnificent waterfall tucked away in the deep woods.  

Our digestive systems are responsible for distributing nutrients from food intake, as well as eliminate waste and substances that our body's don't need.

Over the past several generations, humans have continuously created problems for our digestive systems by hiding food additives, pesticides, and chemicals into many of the foods we eat day to day. There has been a rise of gut-related health issues and allergies. All the things we avoid in our snack bites.   

So going back to our questions, what ingredients could we use? Well, the obvious choices included lemon and ginger. We found that a combination of the two really added the flavor we were looking for and provided the best benefits for digestion. 

So how exactly do these two ingredients improve digestion? Well, let's take a few moments to break them down.

Ginger and Lemons

Lemon

Lemons help to clean out the liver, which a very important part of the digestive system. As an additional benefit, lemons have been found to boost the immune system. This is especially important during those winter flu months. But hey, who really wants to get sick during any part of the year? This yellow citrus fruit can lower high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

 

Ginger

We love Ginger. This pale brown spice is superpowered when it comes to relaxing the digestive tract for smoother elimination. It can help with treating nausea, upset stomachs, vomiting and more. You don't even need large quantities do it. In fact, the quality over quantity has never rung truer than when it comes to Ginger. So why exactly does Ginger work? The health benefits of Ginger are largely due to the antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and content of therapeutic compounds like gingerol, shogaol, paradol, and zingerone. Don't worry we had to look those words up too.

Remember those situations at the start that we want to avoid. Well, we hope that we've helped show you just a few of the impressive superpowers that these two ingredients have and why we chose to include them in our snack bites. Another way to think about it is that every Lemon snack bite you eat is essentially natural medication for your digestion system. Nothing processed, just one more step to a clean, healthy lifestyle by fighting digestive problems like indigestion, slow intestinal movement, and fluid retention. 

As a side note though, in our research, we did discover several mentions that if you suffer from gastritis, it’s best not to consume these two products so if this is your case, please consult a doctor before eating.
